Boost Your Immunity For Optimal Health

Updated: Oct 31, 2020

There is so much information being thrown at us every day on what to do when it comes to COVID-19. Trying to manage it all can be overwhelming and cause a great deal of anxiety and stress. But, let's be honest, you can’t fully control whether you catch a cold, the flu, or COVID-19. You also can’t control how your body will react once it’s exposed to a virus. There are many different factors that determine your body’s response to a virus. Some you can impact and some you can't. But, even the factors you can impact, like diet and lifestyle, there is no one diet, superfood, or supplement that will guarantee you'll stay healthy. But, here's the good news! When it comes to your immune system, what you do every day matters! "When a foreign bug gets into your body, like the one that causes COVID-19, your body puts up its defense. That defense is your immune system and the army you have inside your body are your white blood cells. A healthy lifestyle can help build up your immune system to make your defense as strong as possible." By practicing healthy behaviors and boosting your immune system you can reduce your chance of viral infection and flu. Healthy behaviors to start today: a) Focus on a whole foods based diet and avoid processed foods b) Eat quality protein like grass-fed beef, organic chicken, and wild fish c) Eat a rainbow of colorful fruits and vegetables daily d) Add healthy fats daily (avocado, extra virgin olive/coconut oil, nuts, seeds) e) Move your body 30 minutes a day f) Reduce or eliminate processed sugar and alcohol (1 glass a night for ladies, 2 for men) g) Get proper sleep (7-9 hours) h) Manage stress (meditate, deep breathing exercises, nature walk, a good belly laugh) i) Add whole food supplements, vitamins, and herbs (Juiceplus+, Vitamin C, D, E, Zinc, Echinacea, Astragalus, Olive leaf, Elderberry) When implementing new habits or behaviors, try doing one thing at a time. I understand this is a stressful time and some things may feel doable where others do not. Do what feels good for you and have compassion for where you're at! Pick and choose what you can do now, and add on what feels doable later. Getting started is what matters. And don't aim for perfection, progress is absolutely perfect! Stay safe & healthy, xoxo Amy
