I’m Amy Salman, and I want to give you the gift of health! A gift I’ve given myself and now share passionately with others.
I was suffering with chronic illness since the age of 12, and today live free from all unmanageable symptoms and unnecessary medications.
My journey started at a young age. After my mother's sudden passing at the age of 10, I started suffering with debilitating stomach pains and digestive issues at age 12. I had painful attacks on a regular basis that lasted hours at a time. These attacks were so frequent, it became my new normal way of life and something I thought I had to tolerate.
After college, the attacks increased to several times a day. I was put through a series of tests and elimination diets by doctors and initially diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). With my new found diagnosis and medications, I was sent on my way.
I soon began my corporate life in NYC and the painful attacks continued. So there were more doctors, more medications, and still no symptom relief. Over the years I started to suffer with a host of other health issues and each new doctor's visit was accompanied by a new pill. I now had a cocktail of medications that were simply masking my symptoms. Eventually, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyroid. At the time, I was suffering with severe brain fogginess, swelling in the face, muscle aches and pains, belly bloating, and extreme fatigue. I thought medication would finally be the answer. Once again, medication did not alleviate any of my symptoms.
I started to question the role of diet and how it was affecting my health. My doctor said food had nothing to do with it. I questioned that. After bouncing around from doctor to doctor desperate for help, I received no concrete results or answers. I was left emotionally distressed and exhausted.
At this point, with no other options, I decided to take my health into my own hands. Common sense said get back to basics, and that meant starting with food. It took plenty of patience and experimentation, but after figuring out what foods were triggering my symptoms and removing them from my diet, I saw my symptoms begin to lift immediately! After a couple of months, I was able to taper off all unnecessary medications as well.
Needless to say, I felt incredibly empowered and grateful that I was able to regain my health so simply and naturally! I wanted to share my story and help others do the same. I made the decision to go back to school while working and eventually left my long term corporate career to create The Wellness Map to serve others.

I received my professional training and certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventative healthcare. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them implement lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
I hold a B.S. from University of Maryland, am a classically trained ballet dancer, and trained in Barre Method. I have been a guest speaker on The Greenberg News Show, Madhouse TV, and Smart Women Invest; the nutrition expert for BNP Paribas' 4th & 5th annual CFO/COO Hedge Fund Sumit, content contributor for CPH & Associates & Empowered Bliss, and lead nutrition lectures and events throughout the Tri-State area.
